1. Why are we searching for 2.000 places for housing in North- and East Gelderland?

The mayors of the Veiligheidsregio Noord- en Oost-Gelderland (Safety region North- and East-Gelderland) have agreed the region will look for 2.000 places for housing for refugees. Epe will provide a part of these places. The Dutch government has asked all 25 safety regions to provide 1.000 places for housing within two weeks.

2. What will Epe do if more housing is necessary?

If more Ukrainians come to the Netherlands, we will look for more places for housing. We are now looking at how many places are available in the municipality of Epe.

3. How many refugees will be housed with host families in Epe?

We want to house most of the refugees in regular refugee centers. Depending on how many refugees come to the municipality of Epe, a number of refugees can temporarily make use of housing offered by host families in Epe. These Ukrainian refugees will then live temporarily with these host families. If you want to be a host family, you can apply via www.nederlandvoorvluchtelingen.nl.

4. Does the municipality of Epe check if the host family is safe for refugees?

The municipality of Epe will do its best to offer refugees a safe home. Both in regular refugee centers and in privately owned housing locations. We assume host families who offer housing, will do this responsibly and safely.

The privately owned housing locations are coordinated by a volunteer from our municipality.

5. I'm an inhabitant of the municipality of Epe. Can I offer help to refugees?

We need a lot of help, both now and longer term. If you want to offer help, do so via our contact form. We hope to respond with speed to your offer of help by pointing you to the right organization. You can also apply via www.nederlandvoorvluchtelingen.nl.

7. You are now a host family providing housing for Ukrainian refugees in your own house. How long will you provide housing?

For refugees it is very comforting to be able to stay in your house for a long time, while the situation in Ukraine is uncertain. Talk with the Ukrainian refugees and agree with them how long they can stay.

8. Can I receive compensation if I provide housing for Ukrainian refugees?

At this time we do not know if a host family will get financial compensation from the municipality of Epe. The Dutch government is working on a scheme to give financial support to Ukrainian refugees. Ukrainians can choose to pay the host family for housing or meals from this financial support. This scheme will be published soon. We will publish it also.
